My First Website

The first website I ever built — in Dreamweaver, aged 15, for the American football team I played for. Where all of this started.

This is the first website I ever made. I built it in 2004, in Macromedia Dreamweaver, to showcase the Yorkshire Rams Juniors — my local American football team, the one I played for at the time. It lived at yorkshireramsjuniors.cjb.net, back when cjb.net gave you a free, memorable redirect to whatever cobbled-together free host you’d actually built the thing on.

I’d have been 15 or 16. I’d not long been introduced to American football and I absolutely loved it. A year or so before, I’d played for Great Britain U15s out in Bologna, at the European flag championships. We won — still, to this day, the only GB team to have won it. I think. I haven’t fact-checked that one. Unsurprisingly, I don’t keep up with how the GB team’s getting on these days, or even whether it’s still going.

Everything else on this site — every project, every business, the whole lot — traces back to this. It’s where I worked out that you could just make a website and put it on the internet, and that was that.

The plan is to recover as much of the original as the Wayback Machine still holds and rebuild it here in full, so you can actually browse it the way it was. For now, this is a placeholder while I dig the rest out.
